A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the Harrison High School Varsity Football Team, Girls Fast Pitch Softball Team, and Girls Cross Country Team; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Harrison High School has an outstanding tradition in interscholastic athletics and the 2000 Varsity Football Team, Girls Fast Pitch Softball Team, and Girls Cross Country Team brought home tremendous fame and honor to the school and community; and

WHEREAS, the Varsity Football Team earned the state runner-up title in the Class 5A division and Coach Bruce Cobleigh was named Coach of the Year by the Georgia Sport Writers Association; and

WHEREAS, the Girls Fast Pitch Softball Team is the State Champion for 2000 in the Class 5A division and Coach Janet Oglesby was named the Cobb County Fast Pitch Softball Coach of the Year by The Atlanta Journal and titled Region 5 Coach of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the Harrison High School Girls Cross Country Team is the State Champion for 2000 in the Class 5A division and their coach, Bob DeMenna, was named Cross County Coach of the Year by the Marietta Daily Journal and by The Atlanta Journal; and

WHEREAS, the terrific young athletes on these athletic teams have demonstrated superior talent, drive, and motivation and reflected well the training and experience of their coaching staff and it is an honor to recognize and salute them in their achievements.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the Harrison High School Football Team, Girls Fast Pitch Softball Team, and Girls Cross Country Team and their coaches on their superb year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each of the coaches.
