Senate Resolution

A RESOLUTION
Expressing regret at the passing of Honorable Charlie Ebin
Rowland; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Honorable
Charlie Ebin Rowland served with the utmost dedication as a former Mayor of
Glennville, Georgia, and his leadership in the business, political, religious,
and social affairs of his community will be long remembered;
and
WHEREAS, he became a leading businessman in the
town he adopted following his military service and immediately became involved
in various community organizations; and
WHEREAS, he
served three terms as mayor, was President of the First District Georgia
Municipal Association, and was an honorary member of the 24th Infantry Division
(Mechanized) of Ft. Stewart, and his political advice and support were often
sought by local and state officials; and
WHEREAS,
he was a former president of the Glennville Lions Club and a recipient of the
Melvin Jones Fellow Award, which is the most prestigious honor awarded by the
club and he was the only Glennville member to be so commended;
and
WHEREAS, he was a former member of the Board of
State Planning and Community Affairs and provided substantial input and
influence in state policy making on matters affecting local government power,
organization, and responsibility, and his legacy will be long
lasting.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SENATE that the members of this body express regret at the passing of Honorable
Charlie Ebin Rowland and convey their deepest sympathy to the members of his
family.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary
of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this
resolution to the family of Honorable Charlie Ebin Rowland.
