A RESOLUTION

Commending the Harrison High School Girls Golf Team; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Harrison High School Girls Golf Team has established a proud tradition of excellence in women's golf and brought fame and honor to the school and the community by winning the state title; and

WHEREAS, the athletic ability, individual motivation, and remarkable resiliency of these young women reflect their commitment to perform at their best and the expert training and experience of their coach Billy Peek; and

WHEREAS, The Atlanta Journal named Billy Peek Golf Coach of the Year and the Marietta Daily Journal named him the Girls and Boys Golf Coach of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the outstanding accomplishments of this great team generated well-deserved attention and strengthened the school spirit, and the team members and their fellow students will cherish their memories forever.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the Harrison High School Girls Golf Team and their coach Billy Peek on winning the 2000 Class 5A state title and convey their heartiest congratulations and best wishes to these fine athletes and their great coach.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Coach Billy Peek.
