Senate Resolution

A RESOLUTION
Declaring January 24, 2001, as Albany-Dougherty County Day
at the State Capitol; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Wednesday, January 24, 2001,
will be observed as Albany-Dougherty County Day at the Capitol;
and
WHEREAS, many representatives of the City of
Albany, Dougherty County, and the Albany-Dougherty Chamber of Commerce will be
at the capitol on that date; and
WHEREAS, the City
of Albany and Dougherty County are the centers of business and industry in South
Georgia with a diversified manufacturing economy that complements the agrarian
engine driving its economy; and
WHEREAS, Albany and
Dougherty County are also the home of the Marine Corps Logistics Base which
employs over 3,000 civilians and is home to 1,000 Marines;
and
WHEREAS, Albany, known as Georgia´s "Good
Life City," is Georgia´s sixth largest city;
and
WHEREAS, Dougherty County is known as the
"Quail Capital of the World"; and
WHEREAS, the
members of this body are honored to recognize the representatives from the
governing authorities of Albany and Dougherty County and the Albany-Dougherty
Chamber of Commerce and commend all the citizens of that area for their spirit
of community loyalty and public service.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
Wednesday, January 24, 2001, as Albany-Dougherty County Day at the State
Capitol.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of
the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this
resolution to the public and the press.
