Senate Resolution
369

A RESOLUTION
Commending Terrence Trammell; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Terrence Trammell is one of the
premier track and field athletes in the world;
and
WHEREAS, a native of Atlanta and a graduate of
Southwest DeKalb High School in Decatur, Georgia, Terrence Trammell won a silver
medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney in the 110 meter hurdles and a gold medal
in the 4x100 relay; and
WHEREAS, most recently, he
emerged as the top male athlete of the USA Track and Field 2001 Indoor Golden
Spike Tour, which concluded on March 4 at the Pontiac Grand Prix USA Indoor
Track and Field Championships held at the Georgia Dome, where the top prize
included a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix automobile;
and
WHEREAS, before 12,000 hometown fans, Terrence
won the 60 meter hurdles event with a time of 7.49 seconds and qualified for the
World Indoor Championships to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, on March 9-11, 2001;
and
WHEREAS, a student at the University of South
Carolina, Terrence was named National Track Athlete of the Year during the 2000
spring NCAA season; and
WHEREAS, he is a three-time
NCAA champion, eight-time All American, five-time SEC champion, and a two-time
Gold Medalist at the 1999 World University Games;
and
WHEREAS, Terrence is an exceptionally talented
athlete who, by his drive and determination to succeed, has brought great honor
to himself, his community, and his state;
and
WHEREAS, his proud parents are Ann and Leonard
Trammell.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE
that the members of this body commend and congratulate Terrence Trammell, a
world-class athlete and track and field star, and extend to him best wishes for
continued success in all of his endeavors.

FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to
transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Terrence Trammell.
