Senate Resolution
55
By: Senators Seabaugh of the 28th and
Hecht of the 34th
A RESOLUTION
Commending the Fayette County High School Band; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Fayette County High
School Marching Band has established itself as one of the premier high school
bands in the southeast; and
WHEREAS, continuing a
tradition of excellence over the years, the band in the 1999-2000 academic year
garnered such distinctions as Sandy Creek Invitational Tournament Gold Grand
Champions, Phenix City Invitational Marching Contest Grand Champions, and Peach
State Marching Contest Grand Champion, and in the 2000-2001 academic year such
awards as Sandy Creek Invitational Tournament Silver Grand Champion and Super
Bowl of Sound Grand Champions, and the band received awards in its especially
strong categories of drum major, percussion, and color guard;
and
WHEREAS, as a crowning achievement, the band
was honored in being chosen to represent Atlanta as members of the Sydney 2000
Olympic Band; and
WHEREAS, the band's outstanding
musical accomplishments are the direct result of the unparalleled musical
talent, persistent hard work, and selfless dedication of the members of the
band, superlative leadership, and the magnificent support of the parents,
administration, and student body of Fayette County High
School.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the Fayette County
High School band for its many accomplishments and
achievements.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate
copy of this resolution to the Fayette County High School
Band.
