ADOPTED
SENATE
A RESOLUTION
Commending the Dougherty County School System High
School/High Tech Program teachers and students; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, the Dougherty County School
System High School/High Tech Program is an enrichment program for high school
students with disabilities designed to help develop career opportunities for
these students and to help them achieve their dreams of success;
and
WHEREAS, this outstanding program has provided
many unique opportunities for the students including designing a fascinating and
useful experiment dealing with the metamorphosis of a butterfly under the zero
gravity conditions of deep space in conjunction with the SpaceHab Science
Technology and Research Students Program (S*T*A*R*S) in Houston, Texas, which is
now in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., and the
construction of solar powered vehicles;
and
WHEREAS, the lessons learned through these
exciting and successful programs are helping students with disabilities to
understand that with hard work they can achieve great things;
and
WHEREAS, the successes of the program would not
be possible without the dedication of the students and the commitment of the
excellent teachers in this program.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Dougherty
County School System High School/High Tech Program and its teachers and students
and congratulate them on their accomplishments and extend their best wishes for
future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate
copy of this resolution to the Dougherty County School System High School/High
Tech Program.
