A RESOLUTION
Commending the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, on January 16, 2001,
the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce met and celebrated the seventy-fifth
anniversary of its organization to promote the business and economic environment
of the City of Cairo and Grady County and to enhance the area´s quality of
life; and
WHEREAS, the chamber has been
instrumental in the recruitment and retention of business and industry in the
county and the state; and
WHEREAS, the chamber has
encouraged volunteer activity to enhance further the rich quality of life in
Grady County; and
WHEREAS, the chamber has
emphasized the vital importance of education through its continued local
sponsorship of numerous community education programs such as Student Teacher
Achievement Recognition (STAR), science fairs, and Teacher of the Year;
and
WHEREAS, in celebration of its seventy-fifth
year of service, the chamber embarked upon an ambitious program of work
including a full slate of initiatives regarding community enhancement and
development, organizational improvement, and economic development all specially
focused on further promoting the entirety of Grady
County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SENATE that the members of this body commend the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of
Commerce for seven and one-half decades of outstanding service to the City of
Cairo, Grady County, and the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Cairo-Grady County
Chamber of Commerce.
