A RESOLUTION
To recognize and commend Stephen D. Dolinger; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, in 1995, the Fulton County Board
of Education asked Stephen D. Dolinger to come to Georgia as the Superintendent
and leader of the Fulton County School System; and
WHEREAS, Stephen D. Dolinger accepted the
Board´s challenge and has now served for more than five years at the helm
of one of the premier school systems in the state and nation;
and
WHEREAS, during his time in the Fulton County
School System, Stephen D. Dolinger has introduced a Model for Excellence that
highlights three areas – student achievement, process improvement, and
stakeholder satisfaction – and has used this model to transform the
school system into an organization focused on results;
and
WHEREAS, Stephen D. Dolinger has effectively
used his proven leadership skills to manage explosive growth and now
successfully oversees 70 schools, 70,000 students, 8,000 employees, and a $500
million annual budget; and
WHEREAS, the Fulton
County School System, under Stephen D. Dolinger´s leadership, frequently
earns state and national recognition for its award-winning programs, schools,
staff, and students; and
WHEREAS, Stephen D.
Dolinger has been asked to share his expertise and knowledge with others and
willingly does so by serving as a board member for numerous educational and
cultural organizations; and
WHEREAS, the Georgia
School Superintendents Association and the Georgia School Boards Association
both recently recognized Stephen D. Dolinger as the Georgia Superintendent of
the Year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the
members of this body do hereby recognize and commend the Honorable Stephen D.
Dolinger for his commitment to improving education and for this dedication to
the children of Fulton County and of this state.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Stephen D. Dolinger.
