A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Helen Griffith Jordan on her 80th
birthday; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Helen
Griffith Jordan was born on February 27, 1920, in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania,
and the wonderful contributions of this dear lady will be recognized and honored
at a special celebration of her 80th birthday;
and
WHEREAS, her family moved to Florida in 1926,
and she attended Florida State College for Women and Tampa Business College and
married Wilbur Jordan at Bradenton in 1939;
and
WHEREAS, in 1950 she joined a garden club in
Fort Pierce and cultivated a love that has spanned more than 50 years and
provided beautification for the citizens of communities as well as a lifetime of
pleasure for her; and
WHEREAS, she has been a
dedicated member of the Reidsville Garden Club since 1967 and she has served as
president of her club and the Garden Club of Georgia in recognition of her
talent, industry, knowledge, and experience;
and
WHEREAS, she served on the Board of Directors
of the National Council State Garden Clubs representing Georgia 1995-1997 and
received a national citation for her effort on national disasters and her
service as district chairman for the Deep South Region;
and
WHEREAS, in addition to her excellent community
service, she is an active member of the Reidsville United Methodist Church, a
loving wife and mother, and a treasured
friend.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SENATE that this body recognizes and commends Helen Griffith Jordan and extends
to her best wishes on the momentous occasion of her 80th
birthday.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary
of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this
resolution to Helen Griffith Jordan.
