Senate Resolution
81

A RESOLUTION
Commending the Cedar Grove High School Marching Band; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Cedar Grove High
School Marching Band has long been recognized for the musical talent of each of
its members and the outstanding musical direction and leadership of its
director, Mr. Michael Decuir; and
WHEREAS, the
Marching Saints have performed for two professional football teams, the Atlanta
Falcons and the New Orleans Saints; have performed for universities in Georgia,
Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida;
and have received a superior rating for three consecutive years ;
and
WHEREAS, the Cedar Grove High School Marching
Band has earned the respect and admiration of the citizens of Georgia through
the band´s performances for the children of Coralwood School and at holiday
parades for patients and staff of Georgia Regional Hospital at Atlanta;
and
WHEREAS, the band´s distinct marching
style utilizing "patterns-in-motion" which form numerous geometric shapes
produces a truly memorable musical and visual presentation;
and
WHEREAS, the Cedar Grove High School Marching
Band thrilled the citizens of Georgia, the United States, and the world as
Georgia´s musical representative in the 54th Presidential Inaugural
Parade.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the Cedar Grove High
School Marching Band for its outstanding performance in the 54th Presidential
Inaugural Parade and for its many contributions to the citizens of DeKalb County
and the State of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED
that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to the Cedar Grove High School Marching
Band.
