A RESOLUTION
Expressing regret at the passing of Mrs. Lillie Walker
Higgins; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, on
January 18, 2001, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most
distinguished citizens with the untimely passing of Mrs. Lillie Walker Higgins;
and
WHEREAS, she was a native of Augusta who
devoted her life to her community through her many years of service to the
government of the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
this beloved lady was actively involved in the civic, religious, and charitable
affairs of her community and gave unstintingly and unceasingly of her time,
talents, and energy to improve the quality of life in her community, as
dramatically evidenced by her membership and work in the Mount Vernon Baptist
Church; and
WHEREAS, her unparalleled
organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy,
her keen sense of vision, and her acute sensitivity to the needs of the citizens
of her community earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and
associates; and
WHEREAS, the untimely passing of
this generous, unselfish, and devoted family woman leaves an unfillable void in
the hearts and lives of her family and
friends.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SENATE that the members of this body express their deepest and most sincere
regret at the passing of Mrs. Lillie Walker
Higgins.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary
of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this
resolution to the family of Mrs. Lillie Walker Higgins.
