A RESOLUTION

Commending Jane Adams Long; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Jane Adams Long retired following a 35 year career as a public school teacher; and

WHEREAS, hers has been a career distinguished by an unwavering commitment to duty and excellence in achievement; and

WHEREAS, she is a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Norman Junior College, and the Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia, with additional study in the area of Adult and Continuing Education; and

WHEREAS, during the course of her career, she has taught in Baker, Decatur, Miller, and Seminole counties and in Gadsden County, Florida; and

WHEREAS, during the 33 years that she has taught Adult Education classes, she has called in sick only once; and

WHEREAS, her amazing record of attendance is evidence of her selfless, compassionate nature and her willingness to sacrifice for the best interests of her students and their families; and

WHEREAS, she is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bainbridge where she has been a faithful and dedicated nursery worker, Sunday School member and teacher, and choir member; and

WHEREAS, although she never had children of her own, she has reared many and has been a positive influence in the lives of all who have known her.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor and commend Jane Adams Long for 64 years of exemplary service and outstanding contributions in the field of education and extend to her their sincere gratitude and best wishes during her years of retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jane Adams Long.
