Senate Resolution
33EX2

Harbison of the 15th and Jackson of the 50th
A RESOLUTION
Expressing regret at the passing of Julian Hester; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, Julian Hester will be long
remembered as a dedicated business and community leader and as a most effective
association executive for community bankers in Georgia;
and
WHEREAS, he was a native Georgian, born and
reared in Washington where he returned following graduation from the University
of Georgia and with his wife Lalia Bentley began a family and a long and
prestigious career in the field of banking;
and
WHEREAS, he was with the Farmers and Merchants
Bank for 15 years, became president of Habersham Bank in Clarkesville where he
spent almost 12 years, and was extremely involved in the community and various
civic and charitable organizations; and
WHEREAS, he
was instrumental in organizing the Georgia Bankers Bank in 1984, which currently
serves over 800 community financial institutions across the southeast; was
appointed CEO of the Community Bankers Association in 1986, where he created a
strong network throughout the state; and served as past president of the State
Independent Banking Association Executives in recognition of his exceptional
leadership and capability; and
WHEREAS, he was a
gentleman and a respected friend to many and his beloved family will honor and
cherish his memory forever.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body express deep regret at the
passing of Julian Hester and convey their sincerest sympathy to the members of
his family.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate
copy of this resolution to the Julian Hester family.
