A BILL TO BE
ENTITLED AN ACT
To amend Code Section 20_2_736 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, relating to student codes of conduct, distribution,
disciplinary action for violations, and parental involvement, so as to require
local boards of education to discipline students by first requiring completion
of a designated project after regular school hours or on Saturday; to provide
for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
Code Section 20_2_736 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to student codes of conduct, distribution, disciplinary
action for violations, and parental involvement, is amended by striking
subsection (b) and inserting in its place the
following: "(b)
Local boards of education shall provide for disciplinary action against students
who violate student codes of conduct. Disciplinary action taken against a
student shall first include the assignment of the student to complete a
designated appropriate project after regular school hours or on
Saturday."
SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
repealed.
