A BILL TO BE
ENTITLED AN ACT
To amend Chapter 1 of Title 50 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions relative to state government,
so as to provide that no state agency may require any person to disclose his or
her social security number; to provide for exceptions; to repeal conflicting
laws; and for other purposes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
Chapter 1 of Title 50 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to general provisions relative to state government, is
amended by inserting at the end thereof the
following: "50-1-8. (a)
As used in this Code section, the term ‘state agency’ means a
department, agency, board, commission, or authority of state
government. (b) Any other provision of law to the
contrary notwithstanding, no state agency may require any person to disclose his
or her social security number except when required for purposes of
taxation."
SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
repealed.
