House Resolution 134

A RESOLUTION

Commending the Pope High School slow pitch softball team and inviting the team and its coaches to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the members of the slow pitch softball team of Pope High School are the proud and deserving holders of the 2002 Slow Pitch Softball State Championship; and

WHEREAS, by its victory, the team has brought great honor to its school, its fans, and to the City of Marietta; and

WHEREAS, the 2002 state championship marks the fourth consecutive state championship that the team has won; and

WHEREAS, this remarkable achievement clearly demonstrates the team members´ extraordinary talent and superior ability; and

WHEREAS, the team´s great success may also be attributed to a stringent work ethic, an unquenchable enthusiasm and love for the game, and a strong will to win; and

WHEREAS, the players benefited greatly from the support, experience, and dedication of their excellent coaching staff; and

WHEREAS, effort and sacrifice resulting in triumph is an inspiring model for emulation and this team is a shining example for others to follow.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body commends the Pope High School slow pitch softball team, the 2002 State Champions; conveys their heartiest congratulations to the players and coaches; and invites the team to appear before the House of Representative at a date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Pope High School slow pitch softball team.
