A RESOLUTION
Commending Captain Sharon Elaine Rogers; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Captain Sharon Elaine Rogers
began her distinguished career with the Department of Corrections as a
Correctional Officer I on November 17, 1975; and
WHEREAS, as an outstanding officer she earned
promotion through the ranks, becoming a Correctional Officer II on August 15,
1977, a Correctional Sergeant on July 1, 1991, a Correctional Lieutenant on
November 16, 1994, and a Correctional Captain on January 16, 1999;
and
WHEREAS, she was the first female officer to
earn promotion to the rank of Correctional Captain; and
WHEREAS, she proudly represented the Department of
Corrections in accepting the Georgia Correctional
Officers´
Week Proclamation from Governor Barnes;
and
WHEREAS, she provided valuable leadership as
commanding officer of the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison Honor
Guard; and
WHEREAS, she exemplified the highest
ideals of the Department of Corrections; and
WHEREAS, medical problems unfortunately ended her
outstanding career after 27 years of dedicated and effective service with the
Department of Corrections.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend
Captain Sharon Elaine Rogers for her outstanding service to the
state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the
House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate
copy of this resolution to Captain Sharon Elaine Rogers.
