House Resolution
1398 By: Representatives Purcell of the
122nd, Stephens of the 123rd, Birdsong of the
104th, Coleman of the 118th, DeLoach of the

A RESOLUTION
Commending Major General William N. Searcy; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Major General William N. Searcy
is completing a distinguished military career of more than 36 years;
and
WHEREAS, he has served more than four years as
Assistant Adjutant General for Air and as Commander of the 3,000 member Georgia
Air National Guard; and
WHEREAS, during this time,
General Searcy was instrumental in the formation of the 116th Air Control Wing,
the first blended wing in Air Force history and the largest unit in the Air
National Guard with more than 2,500 active duty and Air National Guard
personnel; and
WHEREAS, General Searcy oversaw one
of the largest mobilizations of Georgia Air National Guard personnel and
equipment in support of operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi
Freedom; and
WHEREAS, General Searcy began his
military career in 1968 as a pilot with
Savannah´s
165th Military Airlift Wing of the Georgia Air National Guard and advanced
through a succession of senior command positions to the position of Wing
Commander of the 900 member Airlift Wing in 1996;
and
WHEREAS, he is a command pilot with more than
3,500 flying hours and has been involved in numerous world-wide missions,
exercises, and deployments including support for Desert Shield and Provide
Promise; and
WHEREAS, General Searcy is a
distinguished Georgian whose contributions to the state and nation are many and
whose character represents the finest ideals of a citizen
soldier.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Major General
William N. Searcy, Commander of the Georgia Air National Guard, for his
distinguished military career.
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and
directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Major General
William N. Searcy.
