A RESOLUTION

Commending the Stockbridge High School Tiger Marching Band; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Stockbridge High School Tiger Marching Band entered three competitions this fall and brought home three Grand Champion titles; and

WHEREAS, the grand champion of a contest is the band with the highest overall score; and

WHEREAS, since no previous Stockbridge High School Tiger Marching Band had ever won more than two grand champion prizes in a single season, three times in a season is a truly amazing accomplishment by this band´s members; and

WHEREAS, over the course of the three competitions, this extraordinary and dominating collection of musical talent and marching precision racked up an astounding total of 52 trophies; and

WHEREAS, the band is a testament to the fact that diligent practice and preparation pay off and the band´s practice of rehearsing for two hours, three times a week, and performing Friday nights at every football game stands as proof of the commitment and discipline it takes to be worthy of the title, three times over, of Grand Champion; and

WHEREAS, these gifted musicians have demonstrated their exceptional talent, technical skill, and tremendous love for music; and their accomplishments reflect the superior training, direction, and leadership they have received from Director Stephen McCarthy and Assistant Director Curt Sanders.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Stockbridge High School Tiger Marching Band on its unparalleled three grand champion performances.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Stockbridge High School Tiger Marching Band Director Stephen McCarthy.
