A RESOLUTION

Commending Georgia Enterprises for Products and Services and the Georgia State Use Council and recognizing March 12, 2004, as the State Use Program´s "Works Wonders Day" in the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Georgia Enterprises for Products and Services and the Georgia State Use Council launched an energetic program in 1979 to promote vocational education, training, and rehabilitation through special contracts for Georgia workers with disabilities, and they have paved the way for the development of business initiatives which provide employment opportunities; and

WHEREAS, in fiscal year 2003, they successfully created more than 38,000 much needed work hours for workers with disabilities in Georgia; and

WHEREAS, for 25 years, these two organizations played a pivotal role in increasing the number of employment opportunities for disabled Georgians and have helped serve the diverse needs of citizens with disabilities including mental retardation, mental health, learning disability, visual impairment, physical impairment, hearing impairment, and brain injury; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Enterprises for Products and Services continues to succeed through the dedicated and generous support of the Georgia State Use Council, Georgians with disabilities, community rehabilitation programs, and state and local government purchasers and has benefited not only the disabled citizens of our state but also the customers of the State Use Program and Georgia taxpayers; and

WHEREAS, it is wholly right and proper to recognize Georgia Enterprises for Products and Services and the Georgia State Use Council for their role as a compassionate catalyst for the creation of employment opportunities for disabled Georgians.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Georgia Enterprises for Products and Services and the Georgia State Use Council for their honorable and innovative work on behalf of Georgians with disabilities and recognize March 12, 2004, as "Works Wonders Day" in the House of Representatives.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Georgia Enterprises for Products and Services and the Georgia State Use Council.
