A RESOLUTION

Expressing regret at the passing of Dr. Samuel Lightfoot, Sr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, on March 11, 2004, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens with the passing of Dr. Samuel Lightfoot, Sr.; and

WHEREAS, this gentle healer was an honest and dedicated man who strived for excellence in all his endeavors as evidenced dramatically by decades of service on behalf of women's health through his medical practice and teaching in obstetrics and gynecology; and

WHEREAS, he was a deeply spiritual man and was an active member of Saint Paul A. M. E. Church where he served as a member of the steward board, choir, and music and dramatic guild; and

WHEREAS, he was the devoted husband of Barbara Lightfoot and God blessed their holy union with four wonderful children, Samuel, Jr., Vanessa, Stacy, and Kimberly and four grandchildren, Samuel III, Brian, Sabrina, and Brittany; and

WHEREAS, this beloved individual exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all his duties throughout his life and was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, his unparalleled organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his acute sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of his community and state earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, the passing of this generous, kind, and devoted family man leaves an unfillable void in the hearts and lives of his family and friends.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of Dr. Samuel Lightfoot, Sr.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Dr. Samuel Lightfoot, Sr.
