A RESOLUTION

Recognizing Telfair County's Arts on the Hill festival; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Telfair County's Arts on the Hill festival is an annual event that showcases the talents of students in grades Pre-K-12 and features musicians and visual and performing artists in the community and the surrounding area plus selected visiting artists; and

WHEREAS, this very special arts festival is sponsored by the Telfair County High School Fine Arts Department, the Pioneer Historical and Arts Alliance, McRae-Helena, and The Crossroads City, Inc., a partnership of local businesses, organizations, and individuals; and

WHEREAS, a tentative schedule of events includes performances by Adebisi Adeleke, African Talking Drummer, Telfair County High School Literary Participants, a choral group from Telfair County, and medieval demonstrations from a group in Warner Robins, and will also include sidewalk art exhibits and kiosks that highlight working with clay, face painting, sidewalk chalk painting, and creating your own buttons and balloons; and

WHEREAS, Arts on the Hill will be held March 22, 2003, at Little Ocmulgee State Park and coincides with Youth Art Month, a state and national celebration sponsored by the Georgia Art Education Association and the National Art Education Association, and with Music in Our Schools Month sponsored by the Music Educators National Conference.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Telfair County's Arts on the Hill festival and convey to the sponsors their endorsement and best wishes for this fine arts program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Thomas W. Beacham, Chairman of Arts on the Hill.
