A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Mr. Robert T. Webb; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Mr. Robert T. Webb is tirelessly committed to marshaling volunteers and resources for community projects and seeing them through, seeking no recognition other than the reward of knowing he has helped others for the sake of making Dalton, Georgia, a better community; and
WHEREAS, in 2000 he established the "Make A Difference Day" in Whitfield County bringing together students and adults to share in special projects in the community and, through this event, he has orchestrated the cleaning of homebound elderly persons´ homes, the renovation and landscaping of the Cheerhaven facility, the holding of a clothing drive for and the painting of the Carter Hope Center, the landscaping of the Memorial Garden site for the victims of the Northwest Elementary School bus accident, and the landscaping of Whitfield Dalton Daycare; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Webb was essential to developing the Northwest Georgia United Way´s Community Connection website, which was a finalist for the Techbridge Award for Advancing Community through Technology, that connects people in need with those who can help and enhances the organization´s overall services; and
WHEREAS, he has spearheaded the transformation of an abandoned school into Whitfield County/Dalton Daycare, a nationally accredited center providing high-quality child care to low-income families with children ages three months to seven years; and
WHEREAS, he was the driving force that established the Bernice Spigel Prize in Visual Arts, recognizing and rewarding talented high school seniors and artists with scholarship awards through a juried competition; and
WHEREAS, he serves as chairperson and president of the board of directors for the Creative Arts Guild and, through the guild´s 40th anniversary celebration, secured its single largest monetary contribution from a corporate sponsor to date.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Mr. Robert T. Webb for his many valuable and wonderful contributions to his community and this state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Robert T. Webb.
