House Resolution 179

A RESOLUTION

Commending the Crisp Academy Varsity Football Team and inviting it to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Crisp Academy Varsity Football Team has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence in football with equal emphasis on character and academics; and

WHEREAS, this terrific team demonstrated its talent by compiling a second consecutive Georgia Independent School Association Class A state title; and

WHEREAS, throughout the season, these outstanding young athletes exhibited superb skill, motivation, focus, and teamwork, and the team´s achievements reflect the excellent training, direction, and experience of head coach and athletic director Mike Roobin and his able assistant coaches, Cliff Hearn, Sam Farrow, Jerry Garden, and Jack Hamilton; and

WHEREAS, interscholastic athletics offer young people a valuable opportunity to master core principles and relationships that are elementary to adult living and create memories that will long be remembered by students and family and cherished by the players forever; and

WHEREAS, this tough and resourceful team included Shannon Napier, Cecil Bodrey, Steven Stubbs, Jeremy Brown, Hagen Hearn, Michael Percival, Heath Hamilton, Matthew Donnan, Michael Miller, Sam Farrow, Hank Vonier, David Donnan, Dwayne Arnett, Chris Hewitt, A. C. Whelchel, Matt Jolly, Mark Donnan, Kyle Card, Donnie Smith, Stephen Ellis, Kyle Cravey, Taylor Edalgo, and Russ Thompson; and

WHEREAS, the team drew great inspiration from its cheerleaders, Betsy Curles, Jeanna Dent, Jordan Coleman, Kimberly Goodman, Grace Hunt, Christie Robey, Sabra Stratford, Courtney Cannon, Kellam Horne, Amanda O´Neal, Stephanie Ellis, Cara Silcox, Whitney Wilkes, and Mary Margaret Woodroof under the direction of Bebhinn Tondee and Kay Massey.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Crisp Academy Varsity Football Team for its fine season.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the team and coaching staff are invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Coach Mike Roobin on behalf of the team.
