House Resolution

A RESOLUTION
Honoring and remembering the life and public service of Mr.
Grady Mack Rogers, Jr.; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, the City of Manassas and the
State of Georgia lost one of their finest and longest serving mayors with the
passing of Mr. Grady Mack Rogers, Jr., on March 18, 2004;
and
WHEREAS, he was a native and life-long resident
of Tattnall County, Georgia, and a Reidsville High School graduate;
and
WHEREAS, beginning in 1984, Mr. Rogers
dutifully served the public and his city as the Mayor of Manassas, Georgia, and
he retired in 2001 after a long and prodigious career with Lucent Technology;
and
WHEREAS, he served his country as a member of
the Air National Guard 165th Materiel Squad;
and
WHEREAS, he was a cherished and valuable member
of Manassas United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS,
he was the former president of the Claxton Shrine Club, a distinguished member
of Ezel Lodge #335, the Reidsville Grand Rascals, and the Seaboard Hunting Club,
and a board member of the Sapelo Salt Water Fishing Club;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rogers is survived by his loving
wife, Wanda O. Rogers; sons, Grady Mack Rogers III and Kendall Turner;
daughters, Tammy Rogers, Rose Marie Morris, and Tracie Durrence; and 13 glorious
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body honor and remember the great and honorable life and public service of
Mr. Grady Mack Rogers, Jr.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED
that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to
transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Wanda O. Rogers.
