A RESOLUTION

Commending Lorraine A. Johnson, 2003 Georgia Teacher of the Year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Lorraine A. Johnson has earned distinction for teaching excellence as a result of her dedication to her students and her profession and has been honored as 2003 Georgia Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, she teaches at Arnall Middle School in Newnan, Georgia; earned a bachelor of education degree from West Georgia College; has earned two master's degrees in education from the State University of West Georgia; and conducts valuable in-service training for fellow teachers; and

WHEREAS, she has consistently demonstrated exceptional ability, enthusiasm, and understanding to her students and provides support in their efforts to learn; she has been a mentor and colleague to her fellow teachers and administrators; and she has eagerly sought improvements in the classroom resources available for teachers and students that promote creativity and vision; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her contributions to the education and welfare of young people in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary accomplishments and academic achievements of this outstanding individual.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend heartily Lorraine A. Johnson, 2003 Georgia Teacher of the Year, and express to her their sincerest best wishes and confidence in her continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Lorraine A. Johnson.
