A RESOLUTION

Remembering Gordon Bynum, Jr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, in June, 1999, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens with the tragic and untimely passing of Gordon Bynum, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, this exceptional individual had compassion for people less fortunate, a volunteer spirit, and a friendly, warm personality; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Bynum, Jr., exhibited outstanding leadership and commitment to public service in all of his life, including his service as a member of the Georgia Conservancy and its young professionals group, Generation Green, and as an active volunteer at the Shepard Center; and as an avid supporter of mass transit, recognizing its environmental benefits to society; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Bynum, Jr., exuded a warmth and an energy that even in his absence is still vivid in the memories of those who knew him; and

WHEREAS, the untimely passing of this generous, kind, and devoted man left a difficult void in the hearts and lives of his family and friends.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body remember Gordon Bynum, Jr., convey their deepest sympathy to his parents and siblings and to his former fiancee, Laura Lee Kinney, and express sincere appreciation for the courageous juror JoAnn Maguire.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the family of Gordon Bynum, Jr., and to Laura Lee Kinney.
