House Resolution
37 By: Representatives Rogers of the 20th,
Mills of the 67th, Post 2, Reece of the 21st and Amerson
of the 9th
A RESOLUTION
Expressing regret at the passing of Hall County Commissioner
Frances Meadows; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the citizens of Hall County and the City of Gainesville remember the leadership,
initiative, insight, and compassion of Commissioner Frances Meadows who served
with the utmost ability and dedication since 1992;
and
WHEREAS, she was a remarkable woman who was a
native of Gainesville, was educated at Fair Street High School, graduated from
North Georgia College and State University where she received her degree in
accounting, and retired from Gainesville College as assistant director of
financial aid; and
WHEREAS, she was the most senior
member of the county commissioners and her skill, understanding, and sound
approach to contemporary problems were valued and respected by her peers and the
citizens she ably served; and
WHEREAS, her talent
was recognized by state leaders and organizations and she was slated to become
president of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia in 2003, was
appointed to the board of directors of the Georgia Environmental Facilities
Authority, and received the Woman of Distinction Award
from the Girl Scouts of Northeast Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body pays
tribute to Hall County Commissioner Frances Meadows, a most capable community
activist who influenced countless students, citizens, and public
officials.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of
the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to the beloved family of Hall County
Commissioner Frances Meadows.
