Valentine's Day 1973; and

and
WHEREAS, he graduated from Georgia Tech in
1937, he signed a professional baseball contract for three years in the New York
Yankees farm system, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and returned

Kentucky, and was twice named SEC coach of the year;
and
WHEREAS, between 1955 and 1964, Hyder's teams
beat the fabled coach Adolph Rupp's Kentucky Wildcats nine times, an unheard of
record against The Baron, and for three years the Jackets beat the 'Cats twice

WHEREAS, Coach Hyder is a
member of the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame and was elected to the State of Georgia
