House Resolution
40 By: Representatives Day of the 126th,
Snow of the 1st, Forster of the 3rd, Post 1, Boggs of the
145th, Westmoreland of the 86th and others
A RESOLUTION
Commending police chiefs and other heads of law enforcement
agencies in this state and observing a day of recognition; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, in the State of Georgia, there
are over 550 police chiefs and heads of law enforcement agencies who provide a
very critical service, managing approximately 30,000 sworn peace officers;
and
WHEREAS, one of many goals of these members of
the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police is preservation of life and property
of Georgia citizens in a professional and ethical manner;
and
WHEREAS, from the time of their initial police
chief training provided by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, each
member has shown dedication to the protection of life and property and continues
to dedicate his or her services through cooperation with state, county, and
local governmental officials; and
WHEREAS, police chiefs and heads of law enforcement agencies
of Georgia have continuously supported efforts to elevate the standards and
training of law enforcement managers and have been instrumental in increasing
the
public´s
awareness of methods of preservation of life and property;
and
WHEREAS, March 12, 2003, is Police Chiefs and
Heads of Law Enforcement Agencies Recognition Day and it is only fitting and
proper that the police chiefs and heads of law enforcement agencies of Georgia
be recognized for their outstanding and courageous service to the people of this
state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE
OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend each police chief and
head of a law enforcement agency in this state for his or her outstanding
service to the people of this state and that Police Chiefs and Heads of Law
Enforcement Agencies Recognition Day, March 12, 2003, is being observed in honor
of all police chiefs and heads of law enforcement agencies in the State of
Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of
the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate
copies of this resolution to Police Chief C. Frank Simons, President of the
Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.
