House Resolution
429 By: Representative Purcell of the 122nd
A RESOLUTION
Commending Irvine B. Johnson; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Irvine B. Johnson of Effingham
County was recently inducted into the Georgia Agricultural Education Hall of
Fame; and
WHEREAS, the Hall of Fame is dedicated to
outstanding agriculture educators who have devoted their professional careers to
providing the youth and adults of this state with instruction in agriculture;
and
WHEREAS, after earning his
bachelor´s
degree from the University of Georgia, Mr. Johnson went to Effingham County,
where he was employed as a vocational agriculture teacher in the Effingham
County School System from 1946 until his retirement in 1986;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson is considered by many as
the father of the Effingham County chapter of the Future Farmers of America for
his work in founding and leading that chapter;
and
WHEREAS, he has furthered the cause of
agricultural education through his involvement and leadership role in numerous
professional organizations; and
WHEREAS, it is only
fitting and proper that he be recognized by this
body.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE
OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Irvine B. Johnson
upon his induction into the Georgia Agricultural Education Hall of Fame and
commend him for his contributions to the welfare of this
state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the
House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate
copy of this resolution to Irvine B. Johnson.
