House Resolution
49 By: Representative Purcell of the 122nd
A RESOLUTION
Commending Homer L. Wallace of Effingham County; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, Homer L. Wallace served
with honor and distinction as vice chairman of the Board of Commissioners of
Effingham County in 1987-90 and 1999-2002;
and
WHEREAS, he served in like manner as a member
of the board of commissioners in 1985-86 and 1991-98;
and
WHEREAS, he also rendered valuable public
service as chairman of the committee to build a new jail, which was completed in
1993; member of the committee to build a new health center, which was completed
in 1990; member of the committee to build a new prison, which was completed in
2001; and member of the committee to build a new Georgia State Patrol facility,
which was completed in 2001; and
WHEREAS, he has
also served his community not only through establishing the local chapter of the
NAACP in 1968 and serving as its president and vice president for a combined
total of 20 years but also through numerous other civic activities;
and
WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that he
be recognized by this body.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend
Homer L. Wallace of Effingham County for his record of public service and his
many contributions to the welfare of his community and this
state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the
House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate
copy of this resolution to Homer L. Wallace.
