A RESOLUTION

Commending Jaeson Clark Winter; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Jaeson Clark Winter, a member of Boy Scout Troop 994 in Woodstock, Georgia, will receive the Eagle Scout Award at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony on April 26, 2003; and

WHEREAS, since 1911, the Eagle Scout Award has been the symbol of the highest and most prestigious achievement among the Boy Scouts of America; and

WHEREAS, only two of every 100 boys who join Cub Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, the candidate for the rank of Eagle Scout must complete a rigorous program of training and must demonstrate his proficiency in selected scouting techniques and commitment to the highest ideals of scouting; and

WHEREAS, the attainment of this rank indicates that a scout has developed leadership ability, self-confidence, mature judgment, and mental and physical capabilities that will be of immense benefit throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, in order for a scout to reach this goal, he must earn 21 merit badges, 12 of which are mandatory requirements for the Eagle Scout program; he must hold positions of leadership within his troop; he must successfully complete an approved Eagle Project; and he must successfully complete an Eagle Scout Board of Review; and

WHEREAS, Jaeson Clark Winter's Eagle Scout Service Project was the restoration of the Old Orange Civil War Cemetery in the Macedonia community in Cherokee County which involved replacing headstones and government military markers; and
WHEREAS, in achieving Eagle Scout status, Jaeson Clark Winter has brought honor to himself, his family, and his troop.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that Jaeson Clark Winter is recognized and commended on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and he is extended his community's best wishes for success and happiness in future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jaeson Clark Winter.
