A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life of A.B.C. "Brad" Dorminy, Jr., and expressing deep regret at his passing; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest natural resource conservationists and most distinguished citizens September 10, 2002, with the passing of A.B.C. "Brad" Dorminy, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, he was born April 20, 1915, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, and married to the former E. Myrtice Mitchell, with whom he enjoyed one son, A.B.C. "Chip" Dorminy III, and two grandchildren, Heather and A.B.C. Dorminy IV; and

WHEREAS, his work as tiller of the soil and producer of food and fiber for the citizens of Georgia is honored by his fellow agricultural producers; and

WHEREAS, his state-wide service as a member of the State Soil and Water Conservation Commission from 1991-2002 inspired soil and water conservation beneficial to all of Georgia’s citizens and agricultural producers; and

WHEREAS, he has served the State of Georgia in the Georgia House of Representatives for 16 years, serving on the Ways and Means Committee, Agriculture Committee, and as chairperson of the Natural Resources Committee for 11 years; and

WHEREAS, his dedication to the people of Ben Hill County and the State of Georgia was evident though his involvement as a District Supervisor for the Middle South Georgia Soil and Water Conservation District, Director of the Georgia Forestry Association, President of the Ben Hill-Irwin Tech Foundation, a Director of Fitzgerald Bank South, and as a member of the Fitzgerald Rotary Club, Fitzgerald Elks Club, Fitzgerald Country Club, and Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Chamber of Commerce.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body remember and honor the life of A.B.C. “Brad” Dorminy, Jr., and express heartfelt regret at the passing of such a devoted and honorable man.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of A.B.C. "Brad" Dorminy, Jr.
