House Resolution
709 By: Representatives Coleman of the

A RESOLUTION
Commending the House Interns for the 2003 Regular Session;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Georgia
Legislative Internship Program celebrates its 34th anniversary as one of the
nation's oldest educational internships to focus on the state legislative
process; and
WHEREAS, the internship program is a
cooperative venture between the Georgia General Assembly and ten of the
four-year public and private colleges and universities in Georgia; and it
provides a select group of students in-depth exposure to the House and the
Senate by assigning them to assist key standing committees and legislative
leaders; and
WHEREAS, the 19 students who were
selected to participate in the House Intern Program represent some of the best
and the brightest college students in our state who share a genuine interest in
the lawmaking process and a potential commitment to public service;
and
WHEREAS, the unique experience of participating
in the legislative internship program has undoubtedly enriched the academic
study these college students have completed;
and
WHEREAS, the members of the standing committees
and legislative leaders benefited greatly from the service of these interns and
salute each of these students on a job well done: Alan Bakowski, Rick Gardner,
Julliette Abdullah, Danielle Hendrick, Honna Brown, Doug Cheshire, Darshun
Kendrick, Laura Wilson, Brian McAlhaney, Nichole Cozine, Mark Kirchen, Jamie
Wilson, Faith Snell, Nikeisha Bollers, Ben Miller, Amanda Rodman, Motorya
Westbrook, Jon Burt, and Adam Collins.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body
commends the House Interns for the 2003 Regular Session on their superb
performance and conveys its best wishes to them for success in their future
pursuits.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of
the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to each of the interns named herein.
