House Resolution
727 By: Representative Smith of the 110th
A RESOLUTION
Commending Leona Davidson Daniel; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Leona Davidson Daniel is a well
known and greatly admired resident of Hamilton, Georgia, where she has been an
active member of the community and a friend and good neighbor to countless
fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, she was born on
October 2, 1915, in Chambers County, Alabama, to proud parents, Addie and Teague
Davidson and she spent her youth in Lanett, Alabama, and later moved to
Columbus, Georgia, where she was married to Joseph King Daniel;
and
WHEREAS, she nurtured two very fortunate
daughters: a deceased daughter, JoAnn Daniel Hinson, who married Wayne Hinson of
Albany and Virginia Daniel Taylor who married Raymond Taylor of Columbus; and
she has been a wonderful grandmother to six grandchildren and enjoys a very full
life with her eight great-grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS, she is known to her many friends as
"Miss Onie" and to her grandchildren as "Meme", a reflection of her
unconditional love and undivided attention to each one;
and
WHEREAS, she moved to Hamilton, Georgia,
following the death of her husband in 1978, and she has been a dedicated member
of Hamilton United Methodist Church where she has served on the board of
stewards and been a vital supporter of the numerous church programs and services
provided to the congregation and to the larger
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend
Leona Davidson Daniel of Hamilton, Georgia, for her contributions and
inspiration as a loving partner, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and
for her marvelous service to her church and her
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of
the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to Leona Davidson Daniel.
