A RESOLUTION

Commending Cornell Mock, Sr., of Effingham County; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Cornell Mock, Sr., served with honor and distinction as a member of the Board of Education of Effingham County from 1999 through 2002; and

WHEREAS, he also previously served in like manner as an educator in the Effingham County School District for 19 years and as an officer in the United States Army for two years; and

WHEREAS, he rendered valuable public service as an advocate for students, parents, teachers, and taxpayers; a strong supporter of technical and vocational education; and a champion for safe schools; and

WHEREAS, he played a significant role in improving education in the school district while expanding school system capacity to meet growing needs, all without a millage increase; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that he be recognized by this body.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Cornell Mock, Sr., of Effingham County for his record of public service and his many contributions to the welfare of his community and this state.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Cornell Mock, Sr.
