A RESOLUTION

Expressing regret at the passing of Katie Ruth Rummel; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Katie Ruth Rummel was a highly respected member of her community who contributed a lifetime of service as a dedicated and respected health care provider; and

WHEREAS, she was a native of Winnsboro, Louisiana, was the daughter of Margaret Calhoun and Arthur Albert Mathes, and became a registered nurse after receiving her degree from Vicksburg Sanatorium in Vicksburg, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, she served in the U.S. Army from November 10, 1942, to November 27, 1945, where she met her husband, Reb N. Rummel, with whom she had a daughter, Rebecca, and a son, Reb N., who were a constant source of enjoyment; and

WHEREAS, she was employed at the Emory University Student Health Clinic from 1966 until 1973 where she influenced the lives of students and fellow associates, and later served at the Anderson Clinic, now the National Orthopedics Clinic in Arlington, Virginia; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her professional responsibilities, she was an active member of her community, an involved member of her Catholic church, and a comforting friend to many.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body express regret at the passing of Katie Ruth Rummel and convey their heartfelt sympathy to the members of her beloved family.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Katie Ruth Rummel.
