House Resolution
87 By: Representatives Mills of the 67th,
Post 2, Keen of the 146th, Burmeister of the 96th, Buck of
the 112th, Boggs of the 145th, and others
A RESOLUTION
Expressing the support of the Georgia House of
Representatives for the President of the United States of America and the
members of our
nation´s
armed forces in the current national emergency; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, President George W. Bush
responded to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, with leadership at
home as he rallied the nation and counseled the American people to be patient
and determined in the fight against terrorism and he showed leadership
internationally as he built a broad coalition of nations to fight terrorism;
and
WHEREAS, the
President´s
address of September 20, 2001, made clear to the Congress, the nation, and the
world that the people of this nation are united and altogether determined upon a
firm and honorable course of action designed to preserve, protect, and defend
the lives and liberties that we as Americans hold so dear;
and
WHEREAS, on January 16, 2003, United Nations
weapons inspectors in Iraq confirmed the discovery of 12 warheads and the chief
United Nations inspector has stated that Iraq has illegally imported arms
related material as recently as 2002; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia House of Representatives remains united in its continued support of
our President as commander in chief and of the sons and daughters of this
nation, including many Georgians, who as members of the armed forces are
responding to the call of duty in this time of
peril.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE
OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body do express their complete
support for the President and the armed forces of the United States in the
current national emergency as they demonstrate their steadfast courage and
sacrifice while protecting the American people from the threat of international
terrorism.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of
the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to forthwith transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to the President of the United States of
America.
