A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life of Laura Louise Melson Newell; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Laura Louise Melson Newell was born on July 11, 1961, the ninth of the 11 children of Clinton and Sarah Melson; and

WHEREAS, she attended public school in Coweta County and was a 1979 graduate of Newnan High School; and

WHEREAS, Laura excelled as a student and was awarded a full scholarship to Jackson State University; and

WHEREAS, she always loved to read and found the perfect job as a librarian for the Newnan-Coweta Public Library where she had been an extremely dedicated and valuable employee for over 17 years; and

WHEREAS, she had a strong and abiding faith and was an active member of her church where she served with the youth department, as a member of the choir, and as treasurer for the adult choir; and

WHEREAS, she was a wonderful, loving, and proud mother of three children, Tori, Erica, and Chris, and a grandmother of three grandchildren, Amaya, Darius, and Miracle; and

WHEREAS, Laura brought joy and enthusiasm to her family, her friends, and her co-workers, and her passing on April 14, 2003, is a great loss for which we express our regret.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor the life of Laura Louise Melson Newell and extend to her family their deepest condolence.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Laura Newell.
