A RESOLUTION

Honoring and remembering the life of Mr. Paul Smith; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest citizens on September 20, 2003, when long-time Gainesville resident Mr. Paul Smith passed away at the age of 95; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Smith was born in Fulton County to the late Shelton and Stella Pierce, but he spent most of his lifetime as a resident of his beloved Hall County; and

WHEREAS, the love of his life, Lorene Hawkins Smith, preceded him in death, but together in life they raised two loving sons, Donald and Travis, and two loving daughters, Carolyn and Gracelyn; and

WHEREAS, a trustee of the Airline Baptist Church, he was revered for his legendary status among its members and the Airline community; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Smith owned and operated a dairy farm for many years, and his personality and the service he provided his community will never be forgotten; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Smith´s legacy lives on through the family he leaves behind that, in addition to his four children, includes two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body honors and remembers the legend that is Mr. Paul Smith of Gainesville, Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Paul Smith.
