Senate Resolution
11 By: Senator Seabaugh of the 28th
A RESOLUTION
Commending Lorraine A. Johnson; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Lorraine A. Johnson was named
2003 Georgia Teacher of the Year in recognition of her extraordinary talent as a
classroom teacher; and
WHEREAS, she teaches at
Arnall Middle School in Newnan, Georgia; earned a bachelor of education degree
from West Georgia College; has earned two master's degrees in education from
the State University of West Georgia; and conducts valuable in-service training
for fellow teachers; and
WHEREAS, she has
consistently demonstrated exceptional ability, enthusiasm, and understanding to
her students and provides support in their efforts to learn; and
WHEREAS, she has been a mentor and colleague to
her fellow teachers and administrators and has eagerly sought improvements in
the classroom resources available for teachers and students that promote
creativity and vision; and
WHEREAS, throughout her
years of teaching she has shown a deep commitment to the profession and an
abiding concern for the welfare and personal development of students; and
WHEREAS, her professional accomplishments and
capabilities have led to increased responsibilities which she has managed with a
positive attitude, and her excellent rapport with parents, students, and
administrators has strengthened the local school system;
and
WHEREAS, the children of Georgia are the
state's most precious resource and our teachers perform an invaluable service in
the education and development of our youth, and it is fitting that the Senate
give appropriate recognition to Lorraine A. Johnson for her outstanding
contributions to the education profession of the state's educational
system. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE
that this body commends Lorraine A. Johnson on being named 2003 Georgia Teacher
of the Year and expresses its appreciation to
her.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of
the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this
resolution to Lorraine A. Johnson.
