A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Cadet Alex Gallman; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Cadet Alex Gallman has earned the General Billy Mitchell Award, honoring the late General Billy Mitchell, an aviation pioneer, advocate, and staunch supporter of the independent air force for America; and

WHEREAS, established in 1964, the General Billy Mitchell Award is earned after the completion of the first eight of 16 achievements of the Cadet Program of the Civil Air Patrol, and, upon completion of each achievement, a cadet earns increased responsibility, decorations, awards, eligibility to apply for national special activities, and opportunities for both flight and academic scholarships; and

WHEREAS, additionally, the cadet must pass a comprehensive 100 question examination covering leadership theory and aerospace topics; and

WHEREAS, cadets who receive the General Billy Mitchell Award are promoted to the grade of Cadet 2d Lieutenant, are eligible for immediate promotions upon entering the Civil Air Patrol Senior Member program or the United States Air Force, advanced credit in Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, and numerous civil air patrol scholarships and special activity opportunities; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to recognize Cadet Alex Gallman for his achievement.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Cadet Alex Gallman for earning the General Billy Mitchell Award and wish him continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Cadet Alex Gallman.
