A RESOLUTION

Commending Charles Alfred "Chuck" Baker; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Charles Alfred "Chuck" Baker has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to quality public broadcasting; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his state as evidenced dramatically by his 35 years of superlative service in broadcasting where he taught radio and television broadcasting at the University of Georgia from 1967 to 1973, served as a producer and director at WSB-TV from 1973 to 1984, and embraced and championed innovative use of new broadcast technology and supported education initiatives as a producer and director for Georgia Public Broadcasting from 1985 to 2002; and

WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of his community have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Charles Alfred "Chuck" Baker for his three and one-half decades of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service on behalf of broadcasting excellence in Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Charles Alfred "Chuck" Baker.
