Commending Warren Budd; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Warren Budd is well known in Newnan, Georgia, and Coweta County for his leadership and initiative in the Republican Party and he was just elected 1st vice chair of the 8th District of the Republican Party of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he became involved in politics during his college days at the University of Georgia where he was elected president of the Young Republicans and worked on the Barry Goldwater campaign for president; and

WHEREAS, he married his lovely wife, Courtenay, on September 18, 1966, and they have enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 36 years and have been blessed with five fine children: Courtenay Caramico, Dorothy Rich, Candler, Bryant, and Wesley; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career he has been actively involved in the activities of the Republican Party at the local, district, and state organizational levels; and his energy, effort, and effectiveness have been recognized by countless political leaders; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his political participation, he has been a Sunday School teacher for young adults in the Aldersgate Class at Cornerstone United Methodist Church since the church was started in 1991 and prior to that he worked with the youth at Newnan First Methodist Church; and he is the ticket sales coordinator for the church barbeque and fund raiser that is the biggest such event in the county and is always the place for politicians.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that this body commends Warren Budd for his outstanding leadership in the Republican Party and conveys to him its congratulations as the 1st vice chair of the 8th District of the Republican Party of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Warren Budd.
