A RESOLUTION
Honoring and commending Mr. Don Stevens; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, he is a man known by many across the State of Georgia for the exemplary service and citizenship he has displayed toward his community and the state; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his work, the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce´s 2004 First Citizen Award was presented by Georgia Regional Transportation Authority director Steve Stancil to Mr. Stevens at its 33rd Annual Banquet; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Don Stevens was not only deserving of the honor, as is widely recognized throughout his community, but it was long overdue; and
WHEREAS, in serving his community Mr. Stevens is chairman of the Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority, president-elect of Reinhardt College Board of Advisors, a board member of the Cherokee County Airport Authority, and a founding member of the Cherokee Bank; and
WHEREAS, he and his lovely wife Lila are responsible for starting Cherokee Thanksgiving, a community event offering holiday dinner to hundreds of needy Cherokee residents; and
WHEREAS, his leadership, service, and humanitarian contributions have helped make Cherokee County the wonderful and thriving community it is today.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that this body honors and commends Mr. Don Stevens for his many selfless contributions to Cherokee County and the State of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Don Stevens.
