Senate Resolution 62

A RESOLUTION

Commending Dr. W. Ron Sailor, Sr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. W. Ron Sailor, Sr., has served as pastor of Christ the King Baptist Church in Dacula, Georgia, for more than seven years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sailor is a native Georgian who graduated from Emory University and received a master's degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center and a doctorate from Central University; and

WHEREAS, under his expert leadership, Christ the King Baptist Church has grown from 60 members to 2,500, has built a new sanctuary and a founder's hall, and has opened a second church in Gainesville, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, to meet the needs of Gwinnett County students, he was instrumental in starting the first tutoring program to help students pass the Gateway exam; and

WHEREAS, his compassionate concern for children and their families has led the members of the church to establish after school and summer programs for children as well as full-time day-care services; and

WHEREAS, his personal development and professional accomplishments serve as a model for others and his deep beliefs and commitment to active service have inspired changes in the lives of many.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Dr. W. Ron Sailor, Sr., for his dedicated service to his church, his community, and his state and convey to him their respect and appreciation.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. W. Ron Sailor, Sr.
