Senate Resolution
75 By: Senators Kemp of the 46th, Hudgens of the 47th,
Gillis of the 20th, Cheeks of the 23rd, Hooks of the 14th and others
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Hugh Logan for his outstanding
public service; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Hugh Logan served as Commissioner from District 5 for the Unified Government of
Athens-Clarke County from January 14, 1991, through January 7, 2003, and in that
capacity contributed greatly to the betterment of his community and its
government; and
WHEREAS, his tenure as Commissioner
continued an exemplary career of public service which has included service as a
Clarke County commissioner and chairman of the board of commissioners, as a
member of the Georgia General Assembly for 16 years, and as president of the
Association County Commissioners of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS, he has served his country with honor
and distinction in the armed services and is a Retired Lieutenant Colonel in the
US Army Reserves; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Logan has always
given generously of his time and efforts in community service, including
participation with the Athens Area Homebuilders Association; the Athens Optimist
Club, the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, the UGA Alumni Association, the
United Way of Northeast Georgia, and the Georgia Water Quality Control Board;
and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that this body express
its appreciation to Mr. Logan for the great credit he reflects on his community
and the state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY
THE SENATE that this body hereby recognizes and commends Hugh Logan for
outstanding public service and for his many important contributions to
Athens-Clarke County and the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Logan.
