A RESOLUTION

Commending the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Industry, Trade, and Tourism, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with respect to "Great Lakes of Georgia" website; urging the inclusion of certain additional lakes on the website; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the collaboration of the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Industry, Trade, and Tourism with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in creating a website called "Great Lakes of Georgia" has been an outstanding success and example of interagency cooperation; and

WHEREAS, the joint venture website highlights the federally authorized Corps of Engineers´ lakes in Georgia, including Allatoona, Carters, Clarks Hill-Thurmond, Seminole, Hartwell, Lanier, Russell, George, and West Point; and

WHEREAS, the website further offers visitors important travel destinations including lodging, fishing, and recreational opportunities; and

WHEREAS, we encourage the joint venture website partners to include Georgia´s federally authorized Tennessee Valley Authority lakes, including Nottely, Chatuge, and Blue Ridge, for further website development and economic promotion.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Industry, Trade, and Tourism, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the success of the website and their interagency collaboration and encourage the inclusion of Georgia´s federally authorized Tennessee Valley Authority lakes on the website.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Industry, Trade, and Tourism, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
